Let the system work

Oh no! The newspapers, we must save the newspapers!

No. We must NOT save the newspapers. THEY must alter the way they do business or die. It is the way of things and it is okay. It is okay to fail. Someone has to. The world is not setup in a way that allows for everyone to win all the time. If you think otherwise, you are a fool.

“Will the emerging news media be more fragmented by interests and political partisanship?” Kerry asked. “There also is the important question of whether online journalism will sustain the values of professional journalism, the way the newspaper industry has.”

Are we going to pay people to read the papers too? Because that is what you will have to do. OR just deliver it for free to doorsteps. But then people will just be annoyed at having to pick up the garbage the government is throwing into their yards daily.

Let it go if they cannot adapt to the changing world. Radio did it. It was looking pretty bad for radio for a while there, so what did they do? They adapted to the changing wind and have succeeded. We don’t listen to The Saint or Little Orphan Annie anymore. We have a new thing called TV. Its sweet, it has moving pictures.Radio is still around though. Even with XM and Sirius, Radio is still working. Why? It provides a service that people want. So do THAT newspapers. Figure out how you can be profitable in the new world. Make the changes you need to. Frankly, you are probably too late, but it is up to you, not me and certainly not the government.

Hours before a Senate hearing on struggling newspapers, Sen. John Kerry, a prominent Democrat, said steps must be taken so the news media can stay diverse and independent.

Why? What do we owe these people? People have paid for the paper for years and kept them in business. It’s going away now, people don’t want to read the newspaper, so what? Life sucks, figure out how to be profitable or die.

I had a newspaper subscription about 14 or 15 years ago, and I never read it then! It’s over for them, let it go. Stop giving my money to companies that have done nothing for me. Stop taking my freedom.
